InterContinental Berchtesgaden
The rotunda of the InterContinental Berchtesgaden near Salzburg shows its proximity to nature not only through the thoughtful way it has been embedded in the countryside, but also through the use of authentic materials and the generous views it offers.
Shaped like a horseshoe, Germany's first mountain resort – a five-star superior hotel – hugs the cusp of the Eckerbichl and affords breath-taking views of the Salzburg countryside. Discreetly designed with a low-key language of shape, InterContinental Berchtesgaden accommodates its guests in 138 rooms at 1,000 meters above sea level. The unique alpine countryside that surrounds the hotel from every side is reflected not only in the facade and lobby - the material concept developed with a keen sense of finesse also dominates the interior: stone, wood and colored glass combined with earthy color tones create a warm atmosphere.
Each of the rooms furnished in a timeless-puristic style offers its guests a spectacular view, and some of them even have their own fireplace. Around 7,000 square meters of broad, room-high windows create a generous, light-flooded ambience in the guest rooms. Front-running sliding shutters with wooden slats provide privacy and protection from the sun. Equipped with HAWA Frontslide 60 A hardware, it takes just one hand to slide them easily and effortlessly into any position.
